Three-Dimensional Liposculptur

Liposuction or three-dimensional liposculptur is a technique to eliminate fatty deposits from specific areas of the body: the chin, throat, cheeks, arms, sides of the chest, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, calves and ankles.

This type of procedure, which is used to shape the figure rather than to lose weight, is designed for those who are within a normal weight range for their frame.

What is it?

Liposuction or three-dimensional liposculpture is a technique that allows removing all those fat clusters located in specific areas of the body: arms, breast’s contour, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, calves and ankles

Who is a good candidate to undergo this intervention?

This kind of intervention is used to shape the figure, not to lose weight, and it is aimed to those people who are within a normal weight given their constitution.

Those people who have undergone any surgery in the area to be treated or some other surgery or who have a weak blood stream should avoid undergoing a three-dimensional liposculpture.

What is the intervention about?

Liposuction is a technique that allows removing localized fat clusters in our body; liposculpture allows also shaping the patient’s body contour to get more harmonic lines.

At IM CLINIC we extract the patient’s fat and shape his/her body always with the objective of embellishing. That is why, in our case, we will always talk about liposculpture, although sometimes we use the work liposuction for better understanding.

We have to keep in mind that an isolated liposuction itself does not remove cellulitis but, in some occasions we can combine that surgery with the laser treatment làser CELLULAZE, with the Cynosure™ brand, the only surgical procedure that, with just one session, removes cellulitis, increases the skin’s width and gives the treated skin a lasting, soft and healthy look.

Duration, anaesthesia and hospitalization

Liposculpture has a variable duration, depending on the areas and the quantity of fat to be treated. The average duration ranges from 1 to 3 hours.

If the liposuction is very localized and the area is small, local anaesthesia combined with sedatives will be used, there is also the option of using the epidural block, similar to the anaesthesia used in a birth. (It’s use would be considered, in a very few occasions we use local anaesthesia and sedation and never the epidural)

If it is practised in a large area, which is habitual, as it is the most comfortable option for patients, it will be general anaesthesia.

The admission is, as a general rule, for one night but it can be considered, in some cases and for the patient’s comfort, extended up to two nights.

Results

The results of the liposuction, that will be gradually visible – start showing between 1 to 2 months after – will not be fully appreciated until six months later.

Although some people think the contrary, the results of a liposuction are permanent if, afterwards we keep an equilibrated diet and practise physical exercise.

Postoperative recommendations

The postoperative is very simple: a pressotherapy girdle, special for this kind of surgery, during a month.

After the surgery, some bruises might appear, but they usually vanish 10 to 15 days later depending on every person.

Depending on your working activity, from to 5 to 10 days later the patient will be able to restart it with relative normality; it is recommended to limit the physical efforts during the first 2 to 3 weeks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT LIPOSCULPTURE

Do we have to always be on a diet to avoid gaining weight after a liposuction?

No, the fat cells removed through liposuction do not reproduce themselves.

It is also not truth the idea that liposculpture forces the patient to be on a perpetual diet to keep the figure he/she has got. The result of this surgery is permanent if we practise exercise and if we follow an equilibrated diet.

Anyway, in case the patient would gain weight, it would be in a more uniform way, respecting the body’s new shape and without fat clusters.

¿Can we carry a liposuction out in any body part?

As a technique it would be possible, but the kind of cannula to be used varies. Although the technique does not offer the same results in all the areas, as it depends on various factors. That is why the surgeon’s advice is essential

Does liposuction or liposculpture remove cellulitis?

No it does not, because they are different processes. That is why we advise a treatment, previous to the surgery, to optimize the results.

Liposuction removes the fat accumulated in the deeper layers, while the dimply skin is located at a much more superficial layer.

We can combine this surgery with our CELLULAZE laser from the Cynosure™ brand, the only surgical process that, with only one session, removes cellulitis.

Can we remove thigh fat with diet and sport?

It is very difficult to remove the adipose tissue from the fat clusters as it is removing the thigh fat only with diet or physical exercise.

Every individual’s hormonal component predisposes accumulating fat in different areas of the body. That is why women tend to accumulate fat in their buttocks, in the inner and outer part of their thighs, under the abdomen and men tend to accumulate it on the lower back and in the intraabdominal area, this fat, although can be reduced with physical exercise and diet is very difficult to regularize, this is where liposculpture plays a very intense role

Is it advisable to undergo a liposuction being obese?

No it is not. Liposuction or liposculpture is not a mean to lose weight; its main objective is to remove fat clusters.

In fact, the ideal patient is that one who has an adequate body mass index. If the obese person is willing to lose weight quickly, this is not the method. On the other hand, if you are looking for a method to remodel your figure to make it more harmonic, this is the right one.

An obese patient is advised to go on a diet, change his/her eating behaviour and to learn healthy nutrition habits before undergoing any surgery.
