Genital Aestethic Surgery

The purpose of Gender Reassignment Surgery is to achieve genitals that are female not only from a functional and anatomical point of view, but also from an aesthetic one.

During the operation in which the vaginoplasty is performed (be this by penile inversion or colon transplant), the surgeon will carry out "vaginal aesthetic surgery”, which involves designing and constructing the labia minora, the clitoris and a hood to cover the latter, always provided there is enough scrotal skin.

There are a number of reasons why a surgeon may decide to postpone some or all of this surgery and perform it after the vaginoplasty. In such cases, the second procedure usually take place three months later, although it normally only involves small retouching under local anaesthetic and no overnight stay in hospital.
